Vietnamese Engagement Ceremony in Saigon HCMC

Thanh and Max’s engagement ceremony really was such a special day and I was so honoured to be a part of it. Thanh’s family home in South Vietnam was decorated beautifully and the ceremony was beamed across the world to Max’s family in the UK as well.

The ceremony had so many interesting Vietnamese traditions. The start time of the ceremony was auspicous - and fortuitously enough it lined up with a good time zone to view the ceremony in the UK too.

Max started the ceremony by gifting some wine to Thanh’s father, who granted him entry to the house. After this, more gifts were given to Thanh’s family - fruit, cake, chicken and wine. Passing gifts is a really important part of the ceremony and Thanh’s family gave some gifts too.

After the ceremony, Thanh, Max and their guests travelled to a restaurant for food and karaoke - how perfect!

I can’t wait for Part 2 in the UK!
