A Stylish and Colourful City Wedding at Clifton Observatory, Bristol | Clifton Observatory Photographer

Clifton Observatory Wedding colourful paper confetti

Tess and James planned a modern and intimate springtime city wedding at Clifton Observatory back in April. With colourful flowers, paper confetti, elegant styling and a guest appearance from their very cute dog, Tess and James had a memorable and stylish day unique to them. Keep reading to see how they styled their day and how I captured it on a mixture of digital and film.

Intimate rooftop Clifton Observatory ceremony

Clifton Observatory is such a gorgeous spot for a wedding. Tess and James got so lucky with the weather on this day - it was a beautiful spring day and absolutely perfect conditions for an outdoor ceremony up on the rooftop. Clifton Observatory is a licensed venue, which means that registrars from Bristol Register Office will travel there to conduct the ceremony. With views of Clifton Suspension Bridge and rolling hills in the background, I don’t think you can find a more scenic spot in Bristol for your legal ceremony. After the ceremony, the space allows you to have fizz and canapés up on the rooftop too - Tess and James opted for this, and their guests had a lovely time taking in the incredible rooftop views.

Clifton Observatory couple portraits

After their ceremony and drinks reception, Tess and James opted to have their reception at The Mall in Clifton Village. For their couple photos, we took some on the iconic Clifton Observatory rooftop and then took some other photos on the walk from Clifton Observatory over to The Mall. The great thing about the surroundings is that there are so many pretty places to stop for photos - plus it was spring and all the blossom was out - so we didn’t struggle to find some nice places to pause for photos on the way over to The Mall.

City wedding styling

Tess’ bridal outfit was a chic city wedding style, featuring a hairband by Project Clementine, dress by Rixo, hair and makeup by Amelia Carmela and flowers by Roots Floral Designs. Tess opted for colourful pastel flowers and matched the blues in her bouquet to her velvet platform heels.

Clifton observatory wedding photography on 35mm film

Such a beautiful day deserved some stylish and modern editorial photos on 35mm film. I photographed this beautiful wedding on Kodak Portra 35mm film alongside digital.
